Feeling Stripey

To truly appreciate that picture, you need to remember where it started...

YUCK!  It was so dark and just plain BLAH!

So when we, and by we I mean me, decided to redo the upstairs Gameroom (you can read about that here and here if you missed it).

This little hall area behind it naturally became part of the makeover.

My original intent was to paint it and walk away...and while it was definitely brighter...

It lacked style.

I stared at it like this for several weeks while I stalked Pinterest for inspiration.

When I came across this picture from The Inspired Room.

And instantly knew what I had to do.

That wall needed to be striped!

Melissa offers an AWESOME tutorial on how to paint the perfect stripes.

I followed them to the letter.

Who knew that the trick to getting crisp lines was actually painting the original wall color over the tape...then painting the stripe color on???

I certainly didn't.
But I can tell you this...my lines are perfect with absolutely NO bleed thru!

Lets look at that again for some perspective shall we?

WOW!  What a difference!

I'm still not 100% sure that I won't be striping the other walls on the left and right of it or ripping out all the baseboards and replacing them but for now...

I'm LOVING the difference a few stripes make!

So what do you think?  Would you stripe the other walls or is the one accent wall enough?

  4. Love it!! What a difference - it totally opens up the whole hallway! I'm not such a fan of the horizontal stripe trend, but in small places it works. Excellent! Now you have me thinking.....
